Neurotypical, often abbreviated as NT, is a term coined to describe individuals who have typical neurological development. However, there are alternative words that can be used interchangeably to refer to individuals who are neurotypical. One such synonym is "neurologically typical", which simply describes individuals with normal neurological functioning. Additionally, the term "neurodivergent" is often used to describe individuals who have atypical neurological development, thus making neurotypical the contrasting term. Other possible synonyms include "typical", "non-neurodivergent", and "nondisabled". These terms help establish a more inclusive and understanding language when discussing neurodiversity and the spectrum of neurological differences within our society.
